Business need to determine their operations and strategies according to changing internal and external environmental factors in order to be successful and survive in a competitive environment. At the same time, a continuously review of these activities and strategies that regardless of industry distinction is important. Any practices or improvements to be made in this way may contribute to the performance of the business and may lead to an increase in the organizational level of performance. However, efficiency and productivity measurements, which are important in determining performance, are applied in every sector with various analysis techniques. Data envelopment analysis is a method which is frequently applied in the literature in terms of productivity and efficiency measurements of business. For a sector with a dynamic structure such as the banking sector, the measurement of performance outcomes provides the analysis of the sector's situation. In this context, the main purpose this study is to measure the efficiency of the banking sector in the period of 2012-2017 by using Malmquist-TFP index based on Data Envelopment Analysis. According to this purpose, input and output variables of decision-making units are formed by data obtained from The Banks Association of Turkey. In the analysis, five input variables as total deposits, interest expenditures, non-interestexpenses, number of branches and number of personel were used. Total loans and receivables, interest income, non-interest income and period net profit were used as output variables. DEAP 2.1 program was used the analysis. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that the banks had ineffectiveness in their TFP in the period of 2012-2017. Inspite of the increase in the technical activities of the source of inefficiency in banks, it has been determined that there is a decrease in technologica lactivities.
